ARTBRUSSELLES 2023 Mauro Staccioli
Booth 5A 32
20 – 23 april 2023

In the solo show of Mauro Staccioli’s work at Art Brussells, Galleria Il Ponte presents a compact set of works from 1970 to 1975, representing the moment when the artist honed his manner of intervention in the political sphere through his art, using it to “represent” the struggles and social conflicts of those years.

Of the great iron-and-cement interventions made for outdoor and indoor exhibitions and public events at the time (until 1982), nothing has remained, almost as if already in the artist’s mind these works were destined to have a lifespan which we could define as “performative”. These smaller sculptures were generally the direct consequence of those large interventions. Often they remained unseen or only visible in the photos of the exhibitions held in that period.
