ARTVERONA 2023
Pav. 11 – Booth A4/B3
13 – 15 october 2023

The booth that Il Ponte gallery and Fornaciai Art Gallery in Florence show at ArtVerona 2023 is essentially focused on the “relationship between art and word”. Among the works which are presented, there are some ones by Fluxus artists, Giuseppe Chiari, Ben Vautier, Wolf Vostell; Poesia Visiva, Eugenio Miccini, with an important nucleus of works from the 1960s and Noveau Realisme, Raymond Hains. To this choice are added artists such as Aldo Mondino, in which the calembour often represents the key to understanding the work and Maurizio Nannucci who with his neon writings has amplified the tautological relationship between art and word.

“[…] a particular work of art is art, which means that it is a definition of art”. Thus in Art after Philosophy (1969) Joseph Kosuth underlines the need to consider art above all a language: it is made up of signifiers that transmit meanings or ideas that can be understood by all those who share the same linguistic code as the artist.

Indeed, in the second half of the 1960s, the objective of art began to shift from the shape of language to its contents, from a problem of morphology to function, from shape to concept. Hence the term “conceptual art” denoting the movement that has touched on this subject more than any other.
