1 december 2023 – 9 february 2024

Il Ponte continues its exhibition season with a solo show dedicated to Mauro Betti, an artist the gallery has worked with for many years. The show will feature his latest works, Dipinti domestici (Domestic paintings), made from 2020 to 2023. Fourteen works, enamels and cardboard collages and cardboard on small and medium-sized canvases, linked by an apparent “banality”./p>

“Mauro Betti’s palette,” as Mauro Panzera instead wrote, “is highly cultured, mindful of the rich adventures of contemporary art, at least starting from British-style pop culture. “In his personal research, Mauro Betti approaches a minimalist figuration consisting of reality ‘clips’ isolated from the context: fragments, letters of the alphabet, signals, almost relics of a civilization before a hypothetical but not improbable apocalypse. […] There are two sides to Betti’s operating: those ‘clips’ can count as possible clues in the illusion of re-establishing a new system of values, or they can count as traces of that disposition (to switch back on?) that was able to see and discover things with the naive awe typical of childhood and the earliest stages of painting…” (Luigi Bernardi)
