In conjunction with the current exhibition in the gallery, Mauro Staccioli: Basta un segno per cambiare un luogo, Il Ponte presents at ArteFiera 2026 a stand (B-05 Pad. 26) entirely dedicated to the works by Mauro Staccioli.
As is well known, Staccioli’s artistic process began with large-scale sculptures conceived in close relation to the spaces in which they were to be placed. These sculptures, defined as environmental sculptures, were usually preceded by numerous sketches, drawings, and models, which are now collected in the Mauro Staccioli Museum Archive in Volterra.
Only later the artist redesigned a sculpture smaller than the environmental one. These smaller sculptures retain the form of the larger works, but they are never simply a reduction in scale, but rather a truly new project. Sometimes the idea was also translated into large or small drawings on paper.
The booth features a selection of drawings and sculptures that connect to large installations on Pico Boulevard – Neilson Way/Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica (California USA); at Torre di Luciana Astronomical Observatory (Italy); in Pesaro Highway Roundabout (Italy); in the Lapiz Building, La Jolla (California USA); at Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, Milan (Italy); at Fundacion Pablo Atchugarry, Punta del Este (Uruguay); at Tenuta Monterosola, Volterra (Italy) and others.
